Prophetic Role in Society
LPAC believes we have prophetic role in society. By that, we mean that as the prophets spoke for God or from the perspective of God to the society of their day, we must do the same now. The prophet was God’s instrument to measure whether society was meeting his standards of justice and peace, as it related to his creation. This meant caring for people and even nature.

The misconception or notion that the prophet was some kind of seer that only predicted the future, while true, has been greatly overemphasized, even exaggerated. The prophet spoke to how the society’s conduct affected the people in the present, especially the most vulnerable—the poor, the marginalized, the widow, the orphan, the stranger, etc
We see our prophetic role (speaking from the perspective of the transcendent God) through being the voice, which proclaims a holistic model of ministry for the twenty-first century church. We believe that the historical tension that has existed between the spiritual and the secular must finally come to an end. We believe that the message of God, his Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit is a holistic one. It deals with the totality of life—the whole person.
Ultimately, we trust that God is the God of History (of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob). We believe that he is at work in our communities today. We also believe that it will take a fully empowered church with all of its gifts and diversity of ministries to improve our society. We look to our Triune God—who, while equal in substance, is different in function—to grant the church the grace and power to become a sign of God’s kingdom.
